The Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne, expressed his dissatisfaction with Black Sabbath’s dissolution in an interview back in May, citing Bill Ward’s absence as the reason. Due to a contract dispute, Ward was unable to participate in the band’s 2013 album 13, which led to his replacement on drums by Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine for the album and Tommy Clufetos of Osbourne for the band’s final tour and, ultimately, the band’s “final” show in Birmingham in 2017.Soon after Ozzy declared his wish to perform one more gig with Ward, bassist Geezer Butler and guitarist Tommy Iommi added that they would also be keen to perform one last show with Ward. However, three of the members have expressed interest in doing a reunion show with Ward; that being said, these are very old guys, so it’s still unclear if they’ll be able to perform live again. More significantly, though, Bill Ward himself, the most influential voice in this conversation, had remained silent. That is, up until this point.
After keeping quiet for a while, Ward expressed interest in playing one farewell gig with Black Sabbath yesterday. Ward shared the following message on several social media platforms:
It appears that Ward and the four original Black Sabbath members are planning to perform the final reunion show. Is that something they can still do? That is the only question left.
