AC/DC has a catalog filled with hit singles that the masses know well. Among all their smashes, one stands out as perhaps their most successful. It’s that tune that reaches a new peak this week, becoming more popular than ever before…at least according to one chart.
“Thunderstruck” rises to No. 149 on this week’s Billboard Global 200. That’s the single’s best showing on Billboard’s list of the most-consumed songs in the world.
This frame, “Thunderstruck” climbs only a few spaces, but that small lift turned out to be very special for the track. Last frame, it sat down at No. 155, and now it’s grown again.
“Thunderstruck” is AC/DC’s longest-running hit on the Billboard Global 200. The tune has now spent 83 weeks on the tally. No other cut from the band has managed even double-digit frames anywhere on the list.
While it may be the band’s longest-charting smash, “Thunderstruck” is not actually AC/DC’s biggest hit—at least not on the Billboard Global 200. That honor belongs to “Highway to Hell,” which beats their current rising win by only a few spots. That memorable hard rock classic peaked at No. 142.
As it reaches its newfound peak on the Billboard Global 200, “Thunderstruck” is also performing well in the U.S. The single holds at No. 1 on both the Hard Rock Streaming Songs and Hard Rock Digital Song Sales charts this frame. At the same time, it falls outside the top 10 on the Rock Digital Song Sales, slipping from No. 7 to No. 11.
