Led Zeppelin called it quits in the early 1980s, but the band’s music lives on for years to come. To commemorate the band’s vast and outstanding hard rock discography, we provide an official ranking of the top 25 Led Zeppelin songs.
Compared to its more celebrated prior albums, Presence, Led Zeppelin’s seventh studio album from 1976, is frequently overlooked in the mix. The opening track is the best on this underappreciated album. Overdubs on the guitar and intricate transitions abound on this nearly 10-and-a-half-minute track. Although there is a lot to process, there is no denying the group’s brilliance as it is demonstrated in this song.
We will talk a lot about the excellent 1969 second studio album by Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin II’s “Heartbreaker,” featuring one of Jimmy Page’s most well-known guitar riffs, opens Side Two. Although “Heartbreaker” is a timeless rock song on its own, radio hosts have always liked to combine it with the equally powerful, guitar-driven song “Living Loving Maid (She’s Just a Woman),” which comes on the list right after.
The Lord of the Rings book served as the inspiration for the lyrics to “Ramble On” (h/t Rolling Stone). Zeppelin has always approached music and poetry with originality and creativity. One of the more comprehensive Led Zeppelin songs, it highlights each member’s skill.
