I sincerely hope I’m not the only one who was completely unaware of Valco Oy’s identity and background. If, like me, you’ve been living under a rock when it comes to technology, Valco Oy is a Finnish firm that makes high-end audio equipment. A headphone collaboration with Megadeth is being added to their repertoire using that equipment. It’s not shocking at all, but what will set them apart?
For starters, they will have really sophisticated active noise cancellation. In addition, they are designed to be exceptionally comfortable for those times when you want to lose yourself in your music and ignore people nearby. For number three, they do something unique with Dave Mustaine’s voice that, while I believe it may be similar to some Siri features, please do not quote me on that.
The press release, which characterizes the Megadeth VMK25 headphones as a set that “transforms every listening session into a front-row concert experience by blending Valco’s cutting-edge technology with Megadeth’s signature sound,” is an excellent source to quote. Sounds elegant and seductive.
Finnish industrial designer Lauri Lumme created the design, and Jasse Kesti, a specialist in acoustics, provided the specifics. The band was impressed and became fixated on the sound of Valco Oy’s headphones when their new Finnish guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari demonstrated how tight they are. This led to the idea for the collaboration.
