Nottingham Forest’s hectic £157m transfer window predicted with Celtic, Rangers, Everton and Leeds deals

There have been several outgoings too as the former Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach trimmed his squad by allowing Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala to join Lyon, Remo Freuler has made his way to Bologna and goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos has joined Premier League rivals Newcastle. More deals are planned as Nuno looks to continue putting his own stamp on his squad and there have been strong links with the likes of Arsenal and England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and Paraguayan international winger Ramon Sosa.

But we wondered how the remainder of the summer transfer window could play out for Nuno and Forest – so we fired up Football Manager 2024, updated the current Forest squad and let the world’s most popular managerial simulation play out the next month to see what business was conducted at the City Ground.

There were no changes for the virtual Nuno’s goalkeeping options, so the only difference to last season was that Brazilian goalkeeper Carlos Miguel has come in from Corinthians and Odysseas Vlachodimos has joined Premier League rivals Newcastle United – after we used the in-game editor to produce a fully up-to-date Forest squad

Nuno’s goalkeeping options: Turner, Sels, Miguel.

Now there are a few changes in the defensive ranks and possibly the most high profile signing was that of Chelsea’s Levi Colwill, who was secured in a £27m deal in the final hours of the window. He is far from the only new face to arrive after Nuno brought in Rangers youngster Leon King and Getafe’s Uruguayan international Gaston Alvarez for a combined cost of £20m. There were several outgoings from the backline as Andrew Omobamidele joined Ipswich Town in a £1m deal and Ola Aina headed to Rennes in a £6m move.
