AC/DC has a catalog filled with hit singles that the masses know well. Among all their smashes, one stands out as perhaps their most successful. It’s that tune that reaches a new peak this week, becoming more popular than ever before…at least according to one chart.
“Thunderstruck” climbs to position 149 on the Billboard Global 200 for this week. On Billboard’s ranking of the world’s most-listened-to songs, that is the single’s best performance.
Only a few spaces are climbed in this frame, “Thunderstruck,” but that little lift proves to be extremely significant for the track. It had grown back to No. 155 in the previous frame.
“Thunderstruck” is AC/DC’s longest-running hit on the Billboard Global 200. The tune has now spent 83 weeks on the tally. No other cut from the band has managed even double-digit frames anywhere on the list.
While it may be the band’s longest-charting smash, “Thunderstruck” is not actually AC/DC’s biggest hit—at least not on the Billboard Global 200. That honor belongs to “Highway to Hell,” which beats their current rising win by only a few spots. That memorable hard rock classic peaked at No. 142.
As it hits its newfound peak on the Billboard Global 200, “Thunderstruck” is also playing well in the U.S. The track holds at No. 1 on both the Hard Rock Streaming Songs and Hard Rock Digital Song Sales charts this period. It also drops from No. 7 to No. 11 on the Rock Digital Song Sales, placing it outside of the top 10.
