The governor and newly-minted vice-presidential nominee has embraced the bard of the working man, honoring the New Jersey rocker last year when he came to St. Paul for a concert.

Bruce Springsteen Day was proclaimed on March 5 by a blue state governor last year.

New Jersey was not the state.

As Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate on Tuesday, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, an ardent admirer of The Boss, celebrated the rocker’s St. Paul concert last year with a day of celebration and lavish praise.

“Springsteen’s music is a source of inspiration for many people in Minnesota, reminding us of the values we hold dear, including kindness, compassion and fairness,” the proclamation signed by Mr. Walz said.

With Mr. Walz expected to lean on his working class appeal as part of the Democratic presidential ticket, it is fitting how strongly he has embraced the bard of the working man.

Even while Bruce Springsteen’s music is popular with listeners of all political persuasions—Chris Christie, the Republican former governor of New Jersey, is among his most ardent fans—The Boss has long supported Democratic candidates on the campaign trail, having endorsed each one since John Kerry. He narrated a commercial for President Biden and became a close friendship with former President Barack Obama.
