Nottingham Forest are interested in AC Milan’s Yacine Adli according to reports from Italy.

Several Premier League clubs including Forest have registered interest as per Calciomercato – Adli is no longer part of the the Italian club’s plans ahead of the Serie A season opener against Torino next Saturday

The 24-year-old cut a sporadic figure last season but new boss Paulo Fonseca is said to not be keen on the midfielder. Last term, Adli made 24 appearances in Serie A but returned a poor tally of a single goal – although he was used as a defensive midfielder rather than a creative player.

The Frenchman cut his teeth at Paris Saint-Germain’s academy before struggling to secure a first-team spot. This resulted in a permanent transfer to fellow Ligue 1 side Bordeaux in 2019 – he impressed during his two-season stint earning him a move to Milan.

During his first season in northern Italy, he featured just six times but was finally handed a chance in the second half of last term due to starting midfielder Rade Krunic moving to Fenerbahce.

Currently, Forest possess Ibrahim Sangare and Danilo in the engine room but an injury to one of the pair could leave Nuno short – an addition is likely before the end of the window.

Leicester and Brentford are also thought to be interested in a move for the player.

In an interview with SportsWeek magazine in March 2023, he explained his ethos on football, saying: “I’m an atypical player: I can play a deep-sitting midfield, an attacking midfielder, I have played as a left winger and false nine. I don’t have the strong legs of someone who sprints 40 meters and leaves the opponent behind, but I understand the timing of the game, I ‘see’ passes that not everyone sees.

“If someone tells me: you’re poor, you don’t know how to play, I don’t listen. I repeat, for better or for worse, I try to stay in the middle, without ever feeling too happy for a compliment or too disappointed by a criticism
