Aston Villa are keeping their eye out for more potential defensive signings this summer, having already forked out to bring in Ian Maatsen from Chelsea. After signing the left-back, Villa are once again monitoring the situation at Stamford Bridge and are interested in Trevoh Chalobah among other Premier League defenders.
According to The Telegraph’s Matt Law, Unai Emery’s side are also looking at Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida and Liverpool’s Joe Gomez. The latter has been attracting attention in recent months, with Tottenham Hotspur also showing interest earlier in the year.
Gomez showed off his versatility last season when Liverpool were hit with an injury crisis to their backline. The England international is a centre-back by trade and has often filled in at right-back too, but he stepped up at left-back last season when both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas were injured. Gomez is currently valued at €28 million (£24m) by Transfermarkt.
It has been reported that Wolves could now entertain offers for Sá, which would allow them the funds to focus on a swoop for Ramsdale. According to talkSPORT, they will offload their No.1 if they can secure the signing of either Ramsdale or another top target in Sam Johnstone.
However, the Gunners are not in a rush to offload the 26-year-old, as Mikel Arteta wants to keep ‘two top goalkeepers’ at the club as they look to challenge for the Premier League title once again.
