Well, that’s the inside word from one of his own teammates, Collingwood ruckman Mason Cox.

After yet again winning the game off his own heroics for the Pies, to snatch a one-point victory at the MCG, Daicos

It always feels special when you’re a spectator with front-row seats to the Daicos show, but according to his 2023 premiership teammate Cox, it is the same playing alongside him.

“After that goal … (in the second term) I walked up to him and just said, ‘you’re an absolute freak’,” Cox said on Nine’s Sunday Footy Show.

“He’s one of those players, I think Craig (coach McRae), said, ‘as a grandparent, I’m going to sit there and say, I coached Nick Daicos’.

“I’ll be a ruckman who sits there and says, ‘I gave him a few taps over my ears’.

“It’s incredible what he’s doing at his age, we’re very fortunate to have him on board.”

The Pies trailed by as many as four goals at quarter time but clawed their way back into the contest in true Collingwood fashion.

Apart from Daicos, his brother Josh was also scintillating with 27 disposals, while Lachie Schultz came in clutch with two crucial goals.

Collingwood will now face Melbourne in round 24, while the Lions take on Essendon.
