Caitlin Clark eye injury update: Will she play in Game 2 against the Sun?
Caitlin Clark’s involvement in the Indiana Fever’scrunch clash with the Connecticut Sun today won’t be affected by the eye injury she sustained in Game 1 of the teams’ WNBA playoff series at the weekend.
Clark hurts eye in opening defeat
The 22-year-old was left with a black eye after being caught in the face by the Sun’s DiJonai Carrington early in Sunday’s game, which Connecticut won 93-69 to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three round-one postseason series.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Clark said her eye “feels good”. Ahead of Game 2, the Fever have no players listed on their injury report.
We know we can eclipse Sun – Clark
As the Fever readied themselves for a match-up that they must win to stay alive in the series, Clark said: “We know we’re capable of beating this team, because we have done it. Obviously, they’re really, really good and we know it’ll be a challenge, but I don’t think it’s anything we’re shying away from. I think you just embrace the challenge.
“We know we didn’t give our best [in Game 1] and the final score seems like we really did get blown out, but we had it to [a margin of] six points, we had it to eight points. It’s just we could never really get over the hump, and then they made two back-to-back threes, or we turned the ball over: little things like that that really cost you in the playoffs.”
