The Memphis Tigers, led by head coach Penn Hardaway, are coming off a solid season, going 29-6, which marked the program’s most wins in a season since going 31-5 in 2012-2013.
They wound up entering the NCAA Tournament as the No. 5 seed in the West Region and eventually falling to No. 12 Colorado State 78-70.
Now, though, with their season over, Hardaway, just like many other coaches has put in a lot of effort into the transfer portal trying to bring in highly talented players and build the roster up.
On Monday, he and Memphis received a huge addition in the form of freshman shooting guard Julius Thedford, who spent the previous season with the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

This is huge news for the Tigers, as Thedford put up some solid numbers last year, appearing in 18 games, shooting 42.8% from the field and 36.6% from the three while averaging 12.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 21.9 minutes per game.
His time on the court went far from unnoticed, as he would be named to Conference USA’s All-Freshman team, which is an impressive feat for someone who 247Sports ranked as just a three-star recruit out of high school.
Thedford isn’t the only player Hardaway and Memphis have brought in through the transfer portal, as he also joins three-star power forward Ashton Hardaway and three-star point guard Quante Berry.
