Jannik Sinner is set to compete against Carlos Alcaraz for the French Open championship on Sunday, marking the first time these two young adversaries will face off in a grand slam final.
The defending champion, Alcaraz, aged 22, aims to secure his second French Open title and fifth grand slam overall, but he must first overcome Sinner, the World No. 1, who has maintained a winning streak in five-set matches.
Sinner, the 23-year-old Italian who triumphed over Novak Djokovic in straight sets during the semi-finals, has achieved 20 consecutive victories at grand slam events and is in pursuit of his third successive grand slam title in his inaugural Roland Garros final.
World No. 2 Alcaraz has emerged victorious against Sinner in their last three encounters, including the Italian Open final in Rome last month, where he advanced to the final after Lorenzo Musetti withdrew due to injury in the semi-finals.
Together, Alcaraz and Sinner have claimed the last five grand slam titles, and their initial clash in a major final is unlikely to be their last encounter for the sport’s most prestigious awards.
When is Jannik Sinner vs Carlos Alcaraz?
The French Open menβs final will be played from 2pm BST (3pm local time) on Sunday 8 June.
