In the decades since it was released, “Thunderstruck” has become AC/DC’s biggest hit. The tune has managed to maintain its popularity in a way no other song from the Australian rockers has been able to. Lately, the song has been rising on several Billboard charts, and the bestseller has experienced an odd feat for a track that’s so old.

“Thunderstruck” climbs to a new high on the Billboard Global 200 this week. This frame marks the third time in just the past month that the single has reached a previously-unknown high point on Billboard’s ranking of the most-consumed songs in the world.

This week, “Thunderstruck” sits at No. 144 on the Billboard Global 200. That’s the tune’s best showing on the tally, which uses a methodology that employs both sales and streaming data to show what the world is listening to.

Last frame, the same single also reached a new peak–one which it has since eclipsed. “Thunderstruck” sat at No. 149 on the Billboard Global 200 for one turn, before surging five more spaces.

In mid-July, “Thunderstruck” managed a similar leap. The track moved forward to No. 154, which marked its first new peak in some time and turned out to be just the beginning when it comes to this weeks-long surge. That frame–the chart period dated July 13–the single pushed from No. 185 to No. 154.

“Thunderstruck” now ranks as AC/DC’s second-highest-rising smash on the Billboard Global 200. Only “Highway to Hell” has managed to soar higher, and it’s not winning by much. That tune peaked at No. 142, and if “Thunderstruck” can continue its successful streak, it may soon become the band’s biggest smash on the worldwide tally.
