Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel has decided to move to Oregon.

Dillon Gabriel, the Oklahoma quarterback, is transferring to Oregon.

Oregon has received a significant commitment through the transfer portal. Dillon Gabriel, the Oklahoma Sooners’ quarterback, has committed to the Oregon Ducks. He made his decision over social media. After transferring from the University of Central Florida before the 2022 season, Gabriel spent the previous two seasons in Norman as the Sooners’ starting quarterback for head coach Brent Venables.

He joined the Knights as a three-star (0.8704 per 247Sports Composite) recruit out of Mililani High School in Hawaii. The same system ranked him as the 754th-best player in the US, the 27th-best pro-style passer, and the 9th-best recruit in Hawaii.

He led Oklahoma to a 10-2 overall record in 2023, with defeats to the Kansas Jayhawks and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. This season, Gabriel threw for 3,360 yards and 30 touchdowns with only 6 interceptions. This season, he had four 300-yard passing games and three 400-yard passing games, helping Oklahoma light up rival defenses all year.

He’s also a fantastic runner, having rushed for 373 yards on 93 carries (4.01 YPC) and 12 touchdowns on the ground. Gabriel will join the Ducks after the departure of veteran quarterback Bo Nix, who will enter the 2024 NFL Draft following the Fiesta Bowl versus No. 23 Liberty, bringing his two-year tenure with the Ducks to an end.

Oklahoma insider weighs in on Dillon Gabriel's transfer to Oregon

He’ll face quarterbacks like sophomore Ty Thompson and redshirt freshman Austin Novosad who are currently on the roster. In addition, the Ducks are anticipated to sign Phoenix (Ariz.) Sunnyslope quarterback Luke Moga in the 2024 draft. On Saturday, Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy quarterback Michael Van Buren de-committed from Oregon, reversing a vow he made in May. The Ducks have a reputation for having one of the top offenses in college football, and that should continue in 2024 under offensive coordinator Will Stein.
