UNBELIVEABLE: A star player from ice hockey scored a game-winning goal in overtime with just 40 seconds remaining……….

The NIHL National weekend review includes a review of the Leeds Knights, Hull Seahawks, and Sheffield Steeldogs.

Matty Davies’s Seahawks maintained pressure on the top three of the Milton Keynes Lightning, Leeds Knights, and Peterborough Phantoms, who all won their respective games. The Seahawks’ Emil Svec led the way against Hull’s struggling Pitbulls, scoring Hull’s second of the night after Lee Bonner had started the game at 3.08.

The hosts’ lead was halved by a Juha Lindgren strike at 11.45, but the game continued to be straightforward.
Dec Balmer and Finlay Ulrick led the Seahawks 4-1 at the first intermission, but four more goals in six minutes secured the win. Nathan Salem made it 5-1, and Svec, Bonner, and Ulrick all doubled their scores. Brock Bartholomew added another goal at 42.12, and Bobby Chamberlain added four assists. Svec completed his hat-trick, completing the rout at 53.11.

Sheffield Steeldogs bounced back from a disappointing 8-2 loss against Swindon Wildcats with a 4-2 win at Raiders IHC.

Ben Morgan and Jonathan Kirk scored goals to give Swindon a 3-0 lead in the first period. Adam Laishram scored for the hosts, but Jonathan Phillips restored the lead three minutes later. Cam Brownley’s 15th-minute strike restored parity with Swindon, but they were 8-1 down in Wiltshire before getting on the board again with Aiden Dancer’s 45th-minute strike.

The following night, Swindon’s hopes of a perfect four-point return to home ice were scuppered when the Leeds Knights won 3-2 in overtime. Tomasz Malasinski put the Wildcats ahead early on, but Jordan Buesa’s 14th-minute power play strike cancelled it out. Malasinski scored twice after being awarded a penalty shot.

The Knights, boosted by forward Innes Gallacher, leveled the score again just over five minutes later, with Mac Howlett proving a key figure. Buesa provided a game-winning touch with an overtime winner with just 40 seconds remaining. The game remained level for the remainder of regulation, with Buesa providing a game-winning touch with an overtime winner with just 40 seconds remaining.
