Before the 2024 season, a Wigan Warriors forward signs with a new team.11

Harvey Wilson has joined the Widnes Vikings on a season-long loan from the Wigan Warriors, effective 2024.

The 19-year-old prop forward from Wigan played seven games for Oldham whilst on dual registration in 2023, tallying two goals.

With Martyn Reilly’s ACL injury, Wilson’s acquisition strengthens the Vikings’ forward options. Wilson will now work with Allan Coleman, the team’s new head coach, who has a great deal of respect for the young Vikings.

“It’s great to have Harvey on loan with us,” head coach Allan Coleman said. “His progress has been excellent over the last 12 months, and he was rewarded with a full-time contract with Wigan.”

He is a player that plays well above his size and will provide us with a lot of enthusiasm and fire.

“I’m excited to bring that to Widnes because he has the drive to succeed in the game.”

According to Widnes, “Harvey is a welcome addition to the Vikings and we are excited to watch him don the jersey in 2024 as the team continues to develop.”

The Widnes Vikings have also declared that, prior to 2024, club historian Ste Fox and statistician Mike Healing will assume formal positions with the organization.

Mike Healing will be in his 19th season with the Vikings in 2024 after serving as their statistician since 2006. For almost twenty years, Ste Fox has been studying the history of the Vikings.

As the club statistician, Mike compiles playing statistics for Widnes players, covering both their career records to date and their time at Widnes.

On our website, Mike also creates the bio pages for every Vikings player.

“Being brought on in an official capacity is fantastic, and it’s always nice to have your work recognized,” Mike remarked.

“It’s wonderful to be a part of the team and have a recognized role.”

“One of the memories I have of growing up in Watford is reading the match day programs and heading straight to the stats pages at the back,” he continued.

“My passion in sports has always been centered upon statistics, which is why I was drawn to the position.

Ste Fox investigates the important aspects of the Vikings’ history and gives the club historical facts.

“I’ve been seriously researching the history of the club that we now call Widnes Vikings for about twenty years, and I still find new information almost every week,” he stated.

“I’m thrilled to be continuing that work with a formal Viking connection.”

After all that Mike and Ste have done for the club over the years, the club is thrilled to have them join in an official role.
