IN RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSY — A.J. Brown, the standout receiver for the Eagles, hurt his knee during the first quarter of the Giants game at MetLife Stadium.

Early in the second half, he was declared out.

After Hurts hit him with a pass, 26-year-old Brown fumbled at the conclusion of a nine-yard gain due to an injury. Brown remained on the ground for a few minutes before carefully making his way off the field by himself.

Brown spent a short time in the blue medical tent before making his own way into the locker room.

Reminder: The Eagles must win and the Cowboys must lose to the Commanders in order to win the division and secure the No. 2 seed in the NFC.

The Pro Bowl receiver for the Eagles is having a fantastic 2023 year. Brown had 105 receptions for 1,447 yards and 7 touchdowns as of Sunday.

Brown’s nine-yard reception puts him 41 yards away from both the franchise record and his personal career high in yards. Brown’s 1,496 during the previous season set the record.

Brown broke his media hush over the week and spoke with reporters for almost thirteen minutes. He backed the coaching staff and voiced his anger. Wednesday morning, Brown expressed regret to his teammates for forcing them to speak for him. According to a number of his colleagues, Brown’s speech this week inspired the group.

The Eagles would not have planned for the first half of Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium to unfold like it has.

After making contact with Giants defender Bobby Okereke’s hand during a throw play in the second quarter, quarterback Jalen Hurts hurt his right middle finger. Wide receiver A.J. Brown also departed the game in the first quarter due to a knee injury. After being examined in the sideline medical tent, the injured player continued playing while wearing additional protection on his finger.

Following a botched fourth down that resulted in Hurts’ injury, the Giants scored a touchdown with Tyrod Taylor back at quarterback. Their lead increased to 10-0 in the ensuing quarter as a result.

IN RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSY — Sydney Brown, a rookie for the Eagles versus the Giants, was hurt in the first quarter and ultimately required a cart lift. His knee issue has caused him to be ruled out.

At MetLife Stadium, Brown, 23, was hurt while covering a punt during the first quarter. He had a severe problem getting off, and someone had to help him into the blue medical tent.

Brown made a quick trip to the tent and came out, but he could not bear any weight on his leg. After being assisted out of the tent, he had to wait to be taken inside by a trolley.

Brown has contributed significantly to special teams throughout the season, but he has also started to play defense. As of Sunday, the rookie for the Eagles had.

Brown intercepted a throw from Kyler Murray just last week and returned it 99 yards for a touchdown. It was the first interception of his career.

Trevor Lawrence, the quarterback for the Jaguars, missed his first NFL game in Week 17, but he won’t miss two straight this Sunday.

Because to a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder, Lawrence’s status was considered dubious, and the club made a last-minute decision regarding it. Lawrence is anticipated to start in the team’s game against the Titans, where they are looking to win in order to clinch their second consecutive AFC South championship.

After losing their previous four games with Lawrence starting, the Jaguars were in a close race for the division lead, but last week’s victory over the Panthers with C.J. Beathard starting at quarterback put the team back in charge of their own fate.

During a crucial play in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s Titans defeat, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence called his own number.

With little over seven minutes remaining, the Jaguars were down 28–20 and on fourth down at the Titans’ 1-yard line. Doug Pederson, the head coach of the Jaguars, initially called a handoff, but Lawrence changed it to a sneak in which he was supposed to try to score by going over the top of the line.

Lawrence claimed after the game that he had scored many times on the same play, although the Jaguars would never again get near the end zone after he was stopped short on this try.

Larry Lawrence stated, “They trust me with those things,” according to James Palmer of NFL Media. “It was unsuccessful. I must accept responsibility for that. It’s all my fault in the end. It’s one of those plays where if you do it, you better score, and I didn’t, even if I did decide to try. It’s regrettable.

The Jaguars had an 8-3 record after 11 games, but they have already lost the last five in which Lawrence has started, and the Texans have won the AFC South and are going to the playoffs. That’s a regrettable development for Jacksonville as well.

The first half of Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium severely disappointed those hoping to see the Eagles rebound in Week 18.

Running back Saquon Barkley of the Giants scored two touchdowns, quarterback Tyrod Taylor added another, while wide receiver A.J. Brown of the Eagles left the game early in the first quarter due to a knee injury. As a result, the Giants lead 24-0 and there is no reason to think that the Eagles will be able to win a postseason game the following week.

While Taylor recovered from his own thumb injury, the Giants lost wide receiver Jalin Hyatt to a hamstring injury and tight end Darren Waller to a stinger.

Hurts was replaced by Marcus Mariota for the following series, and McKinney intercepted his first throw as well. The Eagles recovered the ball after making their own interception, but that’s about as good as it gets for a squad that hasn’t looked all that good for the past six weeks or so.

Bill Belichick, the coach of the Patriots, refused to discuss anything other than the next game during the season. He was all about the next game, and the next, and the next. Even with no upcoming game, Belichick remains silent about what lies ahead.

Upon his eventual meeting with reporters following Sunday’s Jets defeat, Belichick made an effort to avoid answering any and all inquiries regarding his future plans.

“As far as the future goes, I’ll sit down with Robert [Kraft] as I do every year at some point at the end of the season, and we’ll talk about things as we always do,” Belichick stated. “I’m positive that will occur. However, there isn’t really anything more I can say at this time on it.

He responded, for instance, to a direct question about whether he expected to coach the squad the next season, saying, “I was disappointed in the way the game finished, yeah.”

Belichick did, however, once state that he still finds coaching and all of its aspects enjoyable. Which implies that, even though he won’t be coaching the Patriots, Belichick will still be the head coach the next season.

When the Eagles play the Giants on Sunday afternoon to finish the regular season, defensive lineman Fletcher Cox won’t be in the starting lineup.

Cox is out for Week 18 despite not being listed on the team’s final injury report. The rest is probably planned to prime Cox for their playoff debut, when he should be playing at nearly full strength.

D’Andre Swift, a running back, is not playing either. Swift, who was rated as questionable, was claimed to be sick and will miss the game early on Sunday.

Cornerback Darius Slay and wide receiver DeVonta Smith were sidelined on Friday. On Sunday, offensive tackle Tyler Steen and quarterback Tanner McKee are both out.

Linebacker Benton Whitley, wide receiver Parris Campbell, and cornerback Deonte Banks won’t play for the Giants.
