The Seahawks surprisingly moved on from longtime head coach Pete Carroll last week and are just now beginning to request permission to speak with candidates. Carolina’s defense ranked third in the league in yards allowed (298.1) and third in passing defense (175.1 ypg) in their lone season with Evero running the show. Evero is also being considered for the head coaching job in Atlanta and Carolina. You can follow us for future coverage by liking us on Facebook & following us on X:

Update: Seahawks among teams scheduled to interview Dan Quinn this week.

NFL: Dallas Cowboys Training Camp

With the Dallas Cowboys now out of the playoffs following an embarrassing 48-32 mauling at home against the Green Bay Packers, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has several interviews lined up with teams in need of a new head coach. Albert Breer revealed on Monday that Quinn has four teams he’s scheduled to meet with this week, but there’s one notable absence.

Yes, the Seattle Seahawks aren’t on this list. Seattle has not had any reported requests for interview with any head coach candidates, and it’s not really clear when we’ll start to see movement on that front. It’s possible that Quinn could just interview with the Seahawks next week, or get slotted in for an interview later this week, but for now Seattle is not in the mix.

Quinn was Seattle’s defensive coordinator for the 2013-2014 seasons, which ended in a pair of Super Bowl appearances and the franchise’s only Lombardi Trophy to date. Unsurprisingly, with Pete Carroll’s departure, Quinn has been heavily linked to the Seahawks for a reunion, but the Cowboys getting hammered by Sean McVay-disciple Matt LaFleur’s offense on Sunday likely won’t inspire much confidence that Quinn can turn the Seahawks defense around. The Cowboys have had top-10 defenses in all three seasons Quinn has been in charge, but that comes with a caveat that this year’s team had its worst performances against Green Bay and the San Francisco 49ers.

One game isn’t a deal-breaker for NFL teams when looking for a head coach. It wasn’t too long ago that defensive coordinator Matt Patricia got hired by the Detroit Lions even after the New England Patriots allowed 538 yards of offense and 41 points to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. Chances are we’ll see Quinn as a head coach again very soon, even with the disaster that was the Packers game under his belt. The uncertain job security of Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy may have Quinn looking for work outside of Dallas anyway.
