JUST IN: SEATTLE SEAHAWKS HAS CONFIRMED A NEW COACH IN TODAY………..

Then there were four! Jim Harbaugh rejoins the NFL as the Chargers’ coach.

Unsurprisingly, but officially confirmed today, Jim Harbaugh is returning to the NFL.

The former quarterback and head coach of the Michigan Wolverines has agreed to join the Los Angeles Chargers as their head coach after winning that elusive national championship at his alma university. Harbaugh did not interview for any positions other than those with the Chargers and the Atlanta Falcons. Rumors have long persisted that Jim would return to California, where he quarterbacked the Chargers in his final season as a player and coached the University of San Diego, Stanford, and the San Francisco 49ers.

During his four seasons with the 49ers, Harbaugh restored the team’s importance. Under Harbaugh’s leadership, San Francisco won three consecutive NFC Championships and made it to the Super Bowl, despite not making the playoffs from 2004 to 2010. His playoff losses came from a cumulative score of 12 points, which included a 6 point setback to Pete Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks in 2013. After an 8–8 season in 2014, the 49ers dismissed Harbaugh, and it’s safe to assume that a power struggle between him and then general manager Trent Baalke was the catalyst for that decision.

Harbaugh assumed the Wolverines to challenge for a national championship after taking over as head coach after the 49ers. That didn’t truly come to pass until Michigan advanced to its first College Football Playoff quarterfinal in 2021. After defeating Washington and sending Alabama great Nick Saban into retirement in the semifinals, the third time in the CFP proved to be the lucky charm, causing Kalen Deboer to accept Saban’s job. Although Jim’s decision to leave Michigan may have been affected by other events that occurred during his tenure, a move to the NFL appeared imminent.

You already know the Chargers are yearning to be a serious contender once more, and Harbaugh has a proven track record of success everywhere he has been a coach. Since the Chargers don’t currently have a general manager, Harbaugh probably will have a big say in that decision.JUS
