JUST IN: ATLANTA BRAVES MAKES HISTORY AGAIN IN……….

In the 2024 season, a superstar Braves player might create history.

In 2024, the Atlanta Braves have the potential to surpass their previous record-setting season.

The Atlanta Braves were the first team in baseball history to hit 300 or more home runs and steal 100 or more bases in the same season. They also tied the record for the most longballs hit in a season with 307 long balls, and they had the highest team slugging percentage (.501).

And in 2024, they can add to those honors assuming one of their major contributors doesn’t undergo a major transformation.

Ronald Acuña Jr.’s incredible 41 home run, 73 steal season destroyed the previous record for thefts in a 40/40 season (46), earning him the 2023 National League MVP title.

And Acuña will create history if he can achieve comparable, if not same, but at least comparable results in 2024.

Although we’ve already discussed Ronald’s Steamer estimates, it bears repeating due to how ridiculous they are:

.318/.405/.578 w/ 38 HRs, 56 SBs, 135 runs and 100 RBIs, good for 7.4 WAR.

It would be a remarkable performance if Ronald could fulfill that, granted, cautious forecast (in comparison to previous season).

Only three seasons in baseball history have seen a 30–50 season: Eric Davis in 1987, Barry Bonds in 1990, and Ronald last season. MLB researcher Sarah Langs examined the forecasts to see how uncommon a 30–50 season is.

Ronald would therefore become the first player in baseball history to have repeated 30–50 seasons in addition to becoming the first player to have three 30–30 seasons through the age of 26 if he were to repeat the feat.

Furthermore, 40 home runs is plainly not even close to the projection—that would be the first time in baseball history that a player has had more than one 40/40 season. For the record, Ronald almost achieved it in the previous era with 41 home runs and 37 thefts in his 2019 campaign, which earned him a spot in the All-Star game, a Silver Slugger trophy, and fifth place in the MVP voting.

There have only been 13 instances of back-to-back MVPs since the award’s introduction in 1931, and none of those have happened since fellow Venezuelan Miguel Cabrera achieved it in 2012 and 2013.

If Ronald had another 40/40 season, it would be hard to see how anybody else could do enough to have a shot to win the 2024 award over him.
