JUST IN: KEVIN O’CONNELL A GREAT COACH HAS BEEN ELECTED AS A NEW……..

Kevin O’Connell in Los Angeles was replaced by a new coordinator in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Falcons are still being regarded as a potential destination for the veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins in the event that he decides not to rejoin the Minnesota Vikings.

Reports that stated Cousins and Bill Belichick may move to Atlanta soon fizzled out after Raheem Morris was named head coach by the Falcons. The Cousins have a new link that makes his decision to sign with Atlanta quite logical.

The Rams’ pass-game coordinator Zac Robinson was purportedly hired by the Falcons on Saturday to serve as their next offensive coordinator. For what reason is Robinson important? That’s right, he’s descended from the same Sean McVay tree as current Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell. Actually, when O’Connell was hired by the Vikings in 2022, he succeeded O’Connell in Los Angeles.

Robinson’s offensive approach will resemble O’Connell’s plan, under which Cousins has excelled the last two seasons, if it is comparable to McVay’s offensive approach.

In his Friday mailbag at Purple Insider, Matthew Coller discussed the prospect of the Cousins moving to Atlanta after Belichick.

With the way the Falcons have assembled their roster through the draft in recent years, they are unquestionably a win-now club. With Morris in command, that reality remains unchanged. Who Morris chooses to choose as his offensive coordinator will likely be the one to watch. Should he hire Zac Robinson, the former NFL quarterback coach from the Rams, it would mean implementing KOC’s offensive scheme with a former quarterback. If Atlanta wants Kirk, it could be smart for them to sell him.

Cousins has 6,878 throwing yards with 47 touchdowns and 19 interceptions in 25 games while using O’Connell’s playbook. Before rupturing his Achilles in Week 8 of this season, he was dominating the league in Year 2 under O’Connell.

Furthermore, the fact that Julie, the wife of Cousins, was married in Atlanta ten years ago and is a native of the region cannot be disregarded.

If Cousins doesn’t sign a new contract with Minnesota by March 13, he will formally become a free agency.
