BREAKING NEWS: BRIVE UNVIELS ENGLAND’S WORLD CUP STAR……..

French sources state that England’s Courtney Lawes, a back row player, is expected to sign with Pro D2 team Brive.

According to Midi Olympique, this news represents a significant victory for the Corrèze team. Lawes has apparently consented to join the team that is presently ranked sixth on the ProD2 standings, even though the deal has not yet been officially announced.

It was noted in a different Midi Olympique piece on Sunday that Brive had made headway in obtaining Lawes. The experienced Northampton player had looked into opportunities in Brive, Aix-en-Provence, and Montpellier before his contract expired in June.

All three of them made written proposals to him, but Brive’s vigorous campaign seems to have secured the Englishman’s signature.

In fact, this week the 34-year-old visited Provence’s facilities and had conversations with employees, reportedly discussing the possibility of a one- or two-year contract. Lawes seems to have selected Brive despite their intense interest and the presence of players like Jimmy Gopperth and former Saints colleague Teimana at the side.

He will team up with Ireland center Stuart Olding and former Wales No. 8 Ross Moriarty at Brive.

After an incredible Rugby World Cup 2023, Lawes announced his retirement from the England national team. He continued to play brilliantly in club colors and played a key role in Saints’ undefeated December campaign in the Gallagher Premiership and Investec Champions Cup.

At the English club, where Lawes has spent his whole professional career, it will mark the end of an era. With Saints, he won the Anglo-Welsh Cup in 2010 and the European Challenge Cup in 2009, and in 2011 he advanced to the Heineken Champions Cup Final. In 2014, he played a key role in Northampton’s best season to date, as the team won two Challenge Cup trophies in a span of eight days, and won their first-ever Premiership.
