BREAKING NEWS: Retired of a Super League legend announce in…………

In Scott Taylor’s testimonial match, Tony Smith has selected the Hull FC team to play Wigan Warriors, with retiring striker Scott Taylor dropping hints that he could play one more game for his favorite team.

After most of the second half of the 2023 season was spent in suspense over his future, Taylor announced the conclusion of his playing career.

Both he and another Hull FC great Danny Houghton had contracts expiring, but only Houghton was able to remain until 2024. Tony Smith even named Houghton captain after Carlos Tumiavave unexpectedly decided to relinquish the position.

Rather, Taylor hung up his boots and ended his 15-year career, eight of which he played with his beloved Black and Whites.

Taylor’s career began with cross-town rivals Hull KR, although he would eventually win just one Super League Grand Final with Wigan Warriors.

He returned to his home city of Hull after being loaned to Salford Red Devils, where he played a crucial role in the team’s back-to-back Challenge Cup victories.

He was given a testimonial year during his last season, and this matchup with the Wigan Warriors will act as it.

The current star, Taylor, appears to be headed for a brief appearance on the field, as he hinted at the conclusion of the season. Tony Smith has officially announced his starting lineup for the match against Wigan, which is slated to take place on Sunday at the MKM Stadium.

This is the team’s last practice before facing Hull KR in their home derby to start the Super League season. It’s also their first friendly at the MKM Stadium since 2018.

As a result, Smith has put together a formidable lineup that includes six of the team’s recent acquisitions, four of whom are NRL imports.

Tony Smith stated, “I’m keen to go in strong against a tough Wigan side. It’s our final hit-out ahead of the start of the season,” in an interview with hullfc.com.

“The friendlies against Bradford and Doncaster have given us a lot of good points, but our matchup with the champions is a crucial last test before the season starts.

“I’m hoping to see players seizing the opportunity and fighting for the chance to feature in the Derby, as spots in the Round One squad are still up for grabs.”

Signings Liam Tindall, who Smith said has a fractured thumb, and Morgan Smith, who has a knee strain but should be ready for round one, are among the absentees.

Smith has named a very strong 22-man roster, which will be a good representation of how the Black and Whites are expected to line up against Hull KR in the Super League opening.

While Herman Ese’ese, Franklin Pele, and Jayden Okunbor, the NRL three, are expected to start in a formidable pack that also includes vice captain Brad Fash, Nu Brown appears destined to start in the second half.

Complete-back Returning for a second stint to the team, Jack Walker will probably let Tex Hoy, a preseason acquisition from the previous season, to start in the halves with Kiwi international Brown.

The team is still waiting on long-term injured Jake Trueman to return, and they are clearly without their star player from the previous season, Jake Clifford, who made a strong comeback to the NRL from the Super League.
