BREAKING NEWS: SEATTLE SEAHAWKS COACH HAVE SET HIS RESIGNATION LATER BECAUSE…………

It is uncommon for a head coach to accept a potentially lower position at another university, but Chip Kelly seems to be doing just that.

Kelly, a potential contender for the offensive coordinator post currently open with the Seattle Seahawks, is anticipated to take over as Ohio State’s offensive coordinator. Indeed, he is leaving his position as head coach at a college to take an OC position. Ryan Day, the head coach of Ohio State, and he are close.

This follows the departure of Ohio State offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, who took over the role only a few weeks prior, to take a position as head coach at Boston College. Boston College had an opening when Jeff Hafley was appointed as the defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers. Kelly is now a Buckeye, having transferred from the Bruins due to this chain reaction.

Since it is now obvious that the relationship between Kelly and UCLA had worsened, Kelly’s resignation from the company appeared inevitable. With Kelly at the helm, UCLA is just 35-34 overall, and their new Big Ten membership puts them at a severe financial and recruiting disadvantage. This is an excerpt from 247Sports:

Will UCLA Coach Chip Kelly be Around for Big 10 Play? | kvue.com

The date is January 14, 2012. We are in San Francisco at Candlestick Park. The 49ers need a touchdown with 14 seconds remaining, down three, and facing a third down to maintain their hopes of making the playoffs without having to go to OT. In the meanwhile, the Saints may draw a conclusion from this and move on to the NFC Championship Game. We need to look back in time to comprehend how we got here and to fully appreciate what this moment signifies.

How did things end up this awful, then? Why would Kelly, one of the most innovative coaches of this century, wish to step down from his position as head coach?

It probably has a lot to do with the obvious response. A few months ago, a group of UCLA boosters and administrators attempted to get him fired. Why stay put until 2024 when the axe falls? Kelly was aware that his buyout would reduce to $4.27 million in December from $8.5 million. Even while the UCLA administration will find that $4.27 million following a Big Ten financial influx is much more acceptable, the Bruins sports department may be losing money—more on that in a moment.

Under Kelly, UCLA’s recruitment performance has not kept up. The Bruins placed 18th out of 18 schools in the newly updated Big Ten recruiting rankings for the 2024 cycle, most likely due in part to the controversy surrounding Kelly’s hot seat. Although that outcome is a bit unusual, since Kelly joined the team, UCLA has never placed higher than sixth in the Pac-12 recruiting rankings.

The Seahawks are still without an offensive coordinator, for the time being. They have hired Jay Harbaugh to oversee special teams and Aden Durde to oversee defense, but there is still a conundrum about the last member of the head coaching staff.
