With this signing, the Mexican presence in the Bronx for the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) season is further strengthened, including the recently added additions of Alex Verdugo and Víctor González.

The athletic journalist Ken Rosenthal was the one who first revealed Luis González’s Yankees signing.
González has been invited to Spring Training, despite the fact that the deal is initially for Minor League Baseball (MiLB). This gives him a chance to impress and earn a spot on the main squad for the upcoming season. González, who has pitched and played outfield in the past, will provide the New York team variety.

Luis González: who is he?
Luis González, who was born on September 10, 1995, in Hermosillo, Sonora, started playing baseball at the age of six in his hometown as a member of a children’s league supported by the University of Sonora.
He and his family relocated to Arizona when he was ten years old, and he decided to play collegiate baseball at the University of New Mexico after a few years. Three years after the Chicago White Sox selected him in the third round of the MLB draft in 2017, he made his Major League debut.

He signed a contract with the San Francisco Giants in August 2021, but three months later he was free to sign with any team. He joined the squad again in January 2022 to fill in for an injured player. That season, he proved his mettle as a player and made a name for himself in the US.
A Major League Baseball Career
After being cut by the San Francisco Giants in September of this year, Luis González joined the Yankees. The Sonoran hit.248/.350/.352 with eight extra-base hits in 31 games in the minor levels despite having back surgery that prevented him from playing in 2023.
