Worst Nightmare: He Will Never Play Again……

Triston Casas will be out of the Red Sox lineup for a while.

After breaking a rib on the left side of his body while swinging during Saturday’s game in Pittsburgh, the Boston first baseman will be sidelined indefinitely.

Before the Red Sox began their series against the Guardians in Cleveland on Tuesday, manager Alex Cora disclosed the ailment.

Cora said reporters, “He’ll be out for a while,” according to The Associated Press. We only need to exercise patience. We just need to have patience as it will mend itself.

Initially, it was believed that Casas was suffering from a strain on his left rib cage; but, on Monday, an MRI revealed the fracture.

Although Casas’s return to the field is not yet scheduled, Cora anticipates seeing his first baseman play at some point this season.

The captain of the Red Sox also disclosed that Casas had informed him the previous week that he was experiencing discomfort in his ribs after a series against the Guardians.

When the Pirates came up to bat on Saturday in the first inning, the problem became worse.

Cora remarked, “He’s still in a lot of pain and it’s difficult to rest that way.” He’s obviously disappointed, but that’s the way things work out. We have to exercise patience as there is nothing we can do.
