Oilers guns wake up to chase Bobrovsky in Game 4 win

They managed to reach him. Lastly.

It did begin in the previous game’s third quarter, when Sergei Bobrovsky gave up two goals to the Edmonton Oilers, leading to the Florida Panthers’ ultimate victory in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Five minutes into the second period, Darnell Nurse scored their fifth goal in 16 shots, a wrister from the slot off a drop pass from Connor McDavid. The Oilers chased goaltender Bobrovsky, and the Panthers turned to backup (and former Oiler) Anthony Stolarz to finish out the 8-1 victory.

And even though the Panthers are leading the best-of-seven championship series three games to one, they still need to figure out who the favorite goalkeeper is.

They should feel more confident going into Tuesday’s Game 5 in Florida after winning the Conn Smythe Trophy so convincingly leading up to the probable Cup-clinching match.

At the face of the puck, head coach Kris Knoblauch started the third line, which included Adam Henrique, Connor Brown, and Mattias Janmark, foreshadowing the Oilers’ onslaught of goals.

Janmark played a part in both of the Oilers’ first two goals, and in Game 4, Brown frequently carried the ball up ice.

Henrique scored the second goal after Janmark’s feed to him, while Janmark scored the first one shorthanded off of a quick feed from Brown.

Can’t be the big boys all the time.
Knoblauch stated that although Brown had a lengthy scoring drought to begin the season, his play has gradually improved throughout the post-season.

“After the game, Knoblauch stated, “It’s what we wanted for him, what we anticipated.”

“Also, when him and Janmark play together, they’ve and whoever their centreman has been — right now, Rico (Henrique) is our guy and we play them all together — but they’ve definitely been part of our success.”

To win, according to Brown, a team requires “everybody” to contribute.

The big dudes can’t have it all the time. That’s vital to get us started there with a few goals, according to Brown.
