In the first half of the second half, Parramatta overcame a 16-0 deficit to take an unexpected 18-16 lead, but they were unable to sustain their momentum as the Roosters won with two tries in the last 15 minutes.

Mitchell Moses took full advantage of Reagan Campbell-Gillard’s spectacular dash into the backfield to ignite the Eels’ comeback. Dylan Brown’s incredible individual try and Blaize Talagi’s team effort brought the Blue & Gold to a draw, but Moses’ penalty goal put Parramatta ahead.

With only 30 minutes remaining, the Eels could not complete the task as two points were gained by the visitors with tries in the 65th and 75th minutes.

The Eels will play again in Round 17, away to Newcastle, after a bye.

The Eels had to play catch-up from the beginning as Kelma Tuilagi was sin-binned early for a potentially dangerous tackle.

In the fourth minute, Fetalaiga Pauga scored on the Eels’ undermanned left edge, and in the ninth, Michael Jennings scored on the other side.

There wasn’t much Clint Gutherson could do to stop runaway Spencer Leniu and Luke Keary, but he did his best with one-on-one tackles to save the Eels.

Daniel Tupou’s scrum play try in the 27th minute extended the Roosters’ lead to 16-0. Late in the first half, the Eels had a chance to take the lead but failed, and then a flash of craze led to a wild finish to the half when Reagan Campbell-Gillard, a seasoned prop, darted into the backfield off a Junior Paulo offload, galloping 30 meters through open space before finding Mitchell Moses charging through in support to cap off an incredible try.
