Indiana sophomore center Kel’el Ware has received a green room invitation to the 2024 NBA draft, sources tell Peegs.com. DraftExpress first reported the news.

IU coach Mike Woodson and potentially other members of the IU coaching staff are also expected at the 2024 NBA Draft, per Peegs.com sources.

“He has lottery talent,” one NBA scout told Peegs.com.

Ware is in the NBA Draft after playing his sophomore season for the Hoosiers. The 7-foot, 230-pound center has been widely projected to be a first-round NBA Draft selection, potentially in the lottery.

The 2024 NBA Draft will be held on June 26 (8 p.m. Eastern, ABC/ESPN) and June 27 (4 p.m. Eastern, ESPN). The first round will be held in Brooklyn.

There has been growing speculation about the Memphis Grizzlies having interest in Ware. He also had a very good workout for Portland and other NBA teams.

Ware played his sophomore year at Indiana after playing his freshman year at Oregon.

“I feel like that was an important move,” Ware said. “I feel like that was a great fit for me, especially with Trayce leaving, then Woody — his game is an inside to out game — so I felt like that fit me in that program.”

Trayce Jackson-Davis was a four-year starter for IU, an All-American and now plays in the NBA for the Golden State Warriors.

Ware took major jumps in multiple categories in his one season in Bloomington.

He went from 6.6 to 15.9 points, 4.1 to 9.9 rebounds, 1.3 to 1.9 blocks, 53.4 percent to 60.9 percent on 2s, and 27.3 percent to 42.5 percent on 3s.

Indiana had two NBA draft picks in 2023, with point guard Jalen Hood-Schifino going No. 17 to the Los Angeles Lakers and center Trayce Jackson-Davis going No. 57 to the Golden State Warriors.
